ITNT SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY SUPPORTS ACTION 4 BLIND & DISABLED CHILDREN : August 09
Simphiwie Mthembu a severely visually impaired young man has been sponsored by In the Net Technologies since June 2006. Since then Simphiwie has grown from strength to strength, both academically and personally over the period he has been with Action. Simphiwie participates in the South African National Disabled Championships every year and for three years running has returned with medals for 100, 200 meter sprint and long jump. He is also on the Gauteng Central Goal Ball team.
Academically, he has gained access to a learnership in the security industry involving control centre IT related functions. Siphiwe was only granted the learnership because of the IT skills received at Action. Learnerships are wonderful for the beneficiaries not only do they receive anything from R1000 to R1600 per month, but there is a great possibility of the learnership leading to employment. Simphiwie is still currently staying in the Action accommodation centre and attends classes when his shifts allow.
